Dogs
Vets are reporting cases of Pet Fatigue or Lethargy – cause bored owners.
What they find is happening dogs were use to a walk that lasted maybe 10 -15 mins. During the pandemic owners are bored and with the nice weather they were talking their pets for extended walks that can range from 1-3 hrs.
If you plan on talking your pet for extended walks on a regular basis you need to gradually increase their walks, you can’t go from a 15 mins walk to a 2 hr walk on a regular basis.
Suggestion is to each week or every couple of days increase the walk time by 15 to 20 mins.
Cats
The same can hold true for cats. With owners being home more they may increase the play time with their cats. Again, a significant increase in play time might lead to your cat(s) showing signs of fatigue.
Suggestion is to increase play time every couple of days.
Lethargy means sluggishness or drowiness
Signs of Fatigue or Lethargy,
- Not interested in going for a walk
- Might not want to play
- Not eating
