This is probably the one area that pet owners don’t even think twice about.
However, this is something that all pet owners need to be aware of. Battery ingestion can be seriously dangerous to your pet
Now adays we have many things around the house that contain batteries. TV remotes, computer mice, kids toys, phones, fobs for vehicles etc.
Without thinking we leave the remote on the couch or chair. Or we leave the mouse from the laptop or car keys sitting on the coffee table.
When chewed or punctured, alkaline batteries leak a caustic substance that can burn your pet’s mouth, esophagus or stomach. This is extremely painful.
Should your pet swallow part of the battery, or a whole battery, it can cause an obstruction or blockage in their intestines
Seek medical attention right away if your pet ingested a battery.
If you have a puppy or dog that likes to chew keep all items with batteries out of their reach at all times.
